Our Communications Manager is responsible for sharing company news both internally and externally on behalf of Energy BBDO. Internally, the manager works directly with leadership to make sure employees are kept informed and engaged through written communication and agency events. Externally, our Manager, will support PR initiatives to promote our agency, work and people across different channels such as trade media, social media channels, website updates, awards submissions and engagement opportunities. 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Help maintain clear lines of communication between executive leadership and the agency with messaging across all channels
  • Manage people and creative award submissions, from start to finish
  • Submit and place agency leaders on panels, at speaking engagements, and on award show juries
  • Draft and send pitch letters/ press releases for new campaigns launching to industry trades, building reporter relations in the process
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of projects including internal emails, CEO weekly newsletter, agency calendars, bios, etc. 
  • Create and post content to social media channels and agency website
  • Plan, support and/or  execute Energy BBDO events, such as all agency meetings and celebrations 
  • Ensure messaging is consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the agency as well as with external communication messages
  • Advise senior executives of developments throughout the agency and in the news, including potential crisis PR situations
  • Serve as agency ambassador for important community partnerships such as She Runs It and Omnicom ERGs
  • Support new business and DE&I team as needs arise
  • Work in partnership with other agencies’ PR teams, supporting Omnicom initiatives  


  • Writing skills: excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees
  • Speaking skills: strong speaking skills 
  • Interpersonal skills: strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are needed to work with all agency departments. You also need confidence to deal with senior executives and advise them on communication techniques
  • Up to date with news and trends, both for industry, social, and the world as a whole
  • Design skills are a plus, as you may be required to work on the layout of content
  • Organized: our agency moves at a very fast pace, so our teams have to be comfortable working at quickly to meet tight deadlines
  • Project Management: ability to manage multiple concurrent projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Motivated and self-starter, who can be pro-active about storytelling opportunities


B.A., preferably in journalism, communications, public relations. We are also looking for 5-7 years of experience in the field, ideally with experience working at advertising agencies


Relevant Experience

Experience working on a Communications team, especially internal communication and public relations, for a large advertising agency. Experience with writing on a variety of different audiences is also desired.
