What made you join She Runs It?
In 2015 She Runs It’s Connected Leaders meetings were held at my office at The Washington Post in New York. My manager at the time, Sheevani Rakundalia (now a She Runs It Board Member) was a Co-Chair and asked if I was interested in connecting with some of the greatest marketing and agency leaders in the business. Fast forward to today, I am a Co-Chair of the same committee, a Mentor, and established some of the greatest personal and professional relationships in my career thanks to She Runs It (and Sheevani!).
What is something you are currently working on professionally that excites you?
In April, our Newsweek Editorial team is launching Mightier, a year-long editorial series about empowering students from economically underprivileged communities to develop debate skills and compete on a national stage. Can’t wait to see this come to fruition!
What have you enjoyed being involved with the Connected Leaders Committee?
Onboarding and getting to know new committee members who come from various media industry backgrounds. Their knowledge and perspectives are incredibly helpful in brainstorming new topics for future events. I’m constantly inspired by the amazing women in my committee who make our events the best in the business.
Name a woman who inspires you and why
I love Mindy Kaling. In addition to being a brilliant author, writer, producer and actress, she inspires me for her years of advocating for diversity and inclusion in Hollywood and telling stories about the inner lives of women of color. And she’s funny as hell!
