Chicago – February Member of the Month, Amy Swearingen, Pandora

By She Runs It

Hometown? Columbus, OH

Current job title and company? Senior Account Executive at Pandora

Describe your career journey.  I began my career as a media planner and buyer at Mindshare. It’s hard to believe that it has been over 7 years since I then joined Pandora, first as a Sales Planner and now as a partner on key strategic CPG accounts.

Which three words would you use to describe your personality? Driven, Goofy, Thoughtful

What committees/programs are you involved in with She Runs It? Co-Chair of the Leadership Development Committee

How has participating on the leadership development committee helped with your own personal and career development? It has been refreshing to join a community of women who all have different backgrounds brought together under a common purpose. I love getting out of my own day-to-day career bubble to connect in this way.  I feel inspired not only by the those who we feature at the events but also by the group of ladies who find the time and motivation to put the work into planning these events as well.

Name a woman who inspires you and why.  A recent “girl crush” of mine is Brit Morin, Founder and CEO of Brit & Co. I first heard Brit’s story through a podcast and have been following her journey ever since. She quit her job at Google with no plan other than to pursue a career she would find more fulfilling. She ultimately fused her passions for the DIY creator space and business to create a lifestyle brand that also offers online DIY tutorials. Last year she did a different challenge every week and it was inspiring to see how she found small ways to push herself to grow throughout the year. Tech is such a male-dominated industry that I love seeing an example of a successful female entrepreneur who also balances being a mother and finding ways to prioritize personal growth.

What does the words “She Runs It” mean to you? It’s about celebrating the ways, big and small, that each of us are making an impact. And, also, taking the time to honor and learn from other women. The world could always use more of that!
