By She Runs It

Hometown? Sycamore, IL (the S.Y.C.)

Current job title and company? North American Manager, Talent Engagement & Inclusion @ Digitas

Describe your career journey. Graduated with a Bachelors in Marketing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and spent 3 years in newspaper marketing during the Great Recession. Shifted to working with students at universities after receiving a Masters in Higher Education for Loyola University Chicago. Managed 5 of the largest student focused programs at the University of Michigan centered on diversity and inclusion, and decided I wanted to go back corporate side to do the work I’m passionate about. I’ve been at Digitas working in diversity and inclusion for almost 2 years now! Thankful for the ups, downs, and loops my career has taken!

Which three words would you use to describe your personality? Goofy. Sassy. Caring.

What committees/programs are you involved in with She Runs It? Leadership Development Committee and kicking off the newly formed Multicultural Committee.

How has participating on the leadership development committee helped with your own personal and career development? Being on the leadership development committee has sparked a new avenue for networking and understanding of the industry that I wouldn’t have gotten in my day-to-day work. I get to learn about boss women through our brainstorms for panelist and topic areas, connect with likeminded women, and continuously receive tips and action items to put my personal growth and development to work.

Name a woman who inspires you and why. Writer/journalist/podcaster Jemele Hill. She hasn’t quieted her voice in the face of any oppressor or chaos. Every bump in the road, especially the last 3 years, she’s pushed through. Jemele has taken lemons and made what appears to be a refreshingly dope lemonade!

What does the words “She Runs It” mean to you? You run THIS. It’s your (my) marathon, no one else’s–and never forget that.
