Describe your career journey. I started my career in analytics right out of a Masters program at the University of Florida and worked in various roles at Disney, first at Walt Disney World in Orlando followed by ABC Television in New York City. I realized I had a passion for data early on and wanted to learn more about the technology landscape; I joined IBM’s Marketing Analytics department in August 2019. I currently support new initiatives within a tool my team created called Pearl, which serves as our global source of truth for marketing and sales data and dashboards across all of IBM.

Which three words would you use to describe your personality? Creative, Resilient, Curious

Name a woman who inspires you and why? My mom is my greatest inspiration and the reason I am where I am today. She left her home country of Colombia as a young adult with dreams of a better life in the US. Despite not speaking the language, she knew that with hard work and determination she could create a great life for herself here. Her bravery inspires me daily when I’m faced with challenges, and she is my biggest supporter (as well as my friend and therapist!). Even when things seem impossible she encourages me to keep going and to never give up.

What are you involved in with She Runs It? I’m involved in the Young Executives Committee and serve as a Content Subcommittee co-chair to cultivate meaningful discussion topics and bring in guest speakers to speak on topics of interest to YEs. I also volunteer my time at the various events She Runs It hosts throughout the year as the amazing accomplishments of women in our field are truly inspiring! I also participate in the Mentoring Program as a mentee, and have gained invaluable career and life advice from some of my mentors over the years.

What are your biggest current initiatives within the committees you are a part of right now? Our current initiatives are to help foster financial confidence within the YE community, which will be the focus of our upcoming spring panel. My co-chair and I are looking to tie in additional speakers or discussions surrounding the subject as it’s proved to be a hot topic among our group!

Why should young professionals in the industry consider being a part of She Runs It? I recommend She Runs It to anyone starting out in the industry who would like some guidance in those first formative years or your career. Whether it’s the women who have been trailblazing in the industry for years or your peers who have recently navigated similar situations, there’s so much you can learn from fellow She Runs It members – you just need to ask!
