Paving the Way for More Women

Now and then I stop to really ponder the language of our mission – Paving the way for more women to lead at every level of marketing, media and tech – and I am struck by the responsibility and the opportunity we have as an organization. The mission is not narrow. There is so much we can do. And the mission is not ambiguous. We know exactly what success looks like: more women in leadership roles.

We are inspired by our mission, but we are fueled by our membership … the energy of every woman and man who joins our cause. I recently came across a quote from a woman named Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo, who was President of the Philippines from 2001 – 2010. She said, “The power of one, if fearless and focused, is formidable. And the power of many working together is even better.”

She Runs It is a community of nearly 4,000 fearless and focused people who are committed to the spirit of our mission. Our members have access to our mentoring program (the industry’s largest, with currently 300 active pairs), our loan relief benefit (we’ve donated more than half a million dollars to education loan relief), networking events, training, our job bank and more. Our members also take part in key committees who scope and shape the work we do. As a 501c3 not-for-profit entity, we rely on the vitality of every individual who volunteers to help plan and program an event, or recruit and pair mentees to mentors, or serve as an ambassador to new members … the list goes on.
