For decades, women have strived to break through the glass ceilings of a male-dominated corporate world; however, another pervasive ceiling exists in the workplace: one between White women and Black women. Multiple studies have noted that Black women experience more microaggressions at work than women of other races and struggle to build solid relationships with their White female managers.

While all women continue to fight for parity at work and in their daily lives, White women have tremendous power and privilege in our society when compared to women of other races. As we continue to strengthen our community in effort to move forward together, it is crucial White women increase their understanding of their role in U.S. history while adopting habits and actions that reflect empathy and trust to create workplaces and communities where everyone belongs.
