Paving the Way for More Women to Lead
In 1906, the first incorporated advertising league was established in New York City with the notable exception of women, who sought entry to the league but were denied. So, in 1912 our founder, Christine Frederick, established the “League of Advertising Women” which later became Advertising Women of New York. The organization provided women resources, access and tools to further their careers. We became She Runs It in 2016 and while our name has changed, our goal hasn’t. Advancing our founder’s vision, we are lifting women as leaders through networking, mentorship, and advocacy to unlock women’s unique ability to build businesses.

Companies with women in leadership roles have proven to be more profitable (McKinsey), are more successful at attracting talent (Harris Poll) and are more socially responsible (Harvard Business Review) than companies without women at the helm. She Runs It serves as a catalyst and supportive ecosystem for women and their allies, champions, mentors, and sponsors. For us, “She” stands for every individual who experiences the challenges that women face at work and in life. We exist to propel more all to their full potential.
About Our Members and Membership Levels
To be a She Runs It member, you must work within the marketing (advertising), media, or tech industries. Wherever you are in your career, we have a membership level that will be relevant to your position and beneficial to your journey.
